Power hungry

Nichard has recently (within the past couple of months) developed a fascination with electricity. He started out by rewiring a solar powered Christmas light set to make a solar powered phone charger (and cut the cord to our phone charger in the process, but fortunately knew enough about what he was doing that we can still charge our phone :) It became a little bit of an obsession, so we had some discussion and reached an agreement regarding time use that we could both be happy with. Then, after the cooling fan in his car went out, he decided to rewire it to work in our house. He ordered 5 resistors online (5 ended up being just slightly more than one, and he figures he'll use them someday) and experimented and calculated enough to wire up the fan in a manner than won't burn down our apartment (hopefully). It's not really *pretty*, but it moves a lot of air and cools down our house in the evening well enough that we haven't had to use any A/C this summer.

We're sure going to miss Eldon and Stephanie. They're moving today, so we had dinner with them on Sunday and said our goodbye's on Monday. We wish them lots of luck!

My younger brothers came to visit on Sunday as well. Clark had made himself a fine helmet out of a watermelon and everyone passed it around to try on. Even Nichard had a try :)

And here's the parting shot...

Impressive Nichard, impressive. Maybe you can gather up some tools to help me beat Mel and John in Settlers up at Snowbird. ;)
